The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a press statement denying any involvement in a purported appeal filed at the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division, concerning Suit No: PHC/2177/CS/2024.
The statement, signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary, emphasized that the PDP is not listed as an appellant in the case and did not authorize any such appeal. The PDP’s National Legal Adviser, Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade SAN confirmed that the party neither filed the appeal nor engaged any external solicitor to do so on its behalf.

To clarify, the PDP categorically stated it did not challenge the Rivers State High Court’s order restraining the Chief Judge of Rivers State and the Clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly from acting on resolutions from certain individuals until a pending case is determined.
The PDP reiterated that only the National Legal Adviser is empowered to conduct litigation, prosecution, and defense of cases for the party, as specified in Section 42 of the PDP’s Constitution (amended in 2017). The party had also previously issued a public notice on January 17, 2023, affirming that no other authority or organ, apart from the National Legal Adviser, is competent to file or engage external solicitors for cases on behalf of the party.
In light of this, the PDP firmly dissociates itself from the appeal allegedly filed in connection with Suit No: PHC/2177/CS/2024 at the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division.
