The holiday coaching program sponsored by Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has begun delivering remarkable results, with beneficiaries reporting significant improvements in their academic performance. The initiative, aimed at enhancing the educational prospects of students within the Oyo South Senatorial District, is already yielding positive outcomes, with many students achieving commendable success in their examinations.
Launched in 2023, the program provides intensive lessons for SS2 students during the holiday period. Initially covering 18 centers across the nine local government areas within the district (two centers per local government), Senator Alli expanded the initiative to 20 centers this year to accommodate more students seeking educational support.

In a bid to measure the program’s impact, a mock examination was conducted at the end of the 2023 session. The top three students from each of the 18 centers were awarded scholarships covering their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees, offering much-needed financial relief to numerous families in the district.
Building on this success, Senator Alli announced further assistance for students who secure admission into higher institutions. In collaboration with the Good Governance and Development Initiative (GGDI), the senator pledged a minimum of N100,000 annually to each of the 54 students who gain admission this year, provided they maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) not lower than a Second Class Upper grade. The financial support will continue until they graduate.
“This support will be ongoing every year until they complete their studies, as long as they maintain the required academic standard,” Senator Alli affirmed.
Parents have expressed their appreciation for the senator’s foresight, noting that the holiday coaching program is more than just a temporary intervention—it is part of a broader vision to nurture future leaders in the Oyo South Senatorial District.
“This initiative has taken a significant financial burden off our shoulders. Senator Alli has given our children a real chance to succeed, and we are truly grateful,” some parents commented.
Senator Alli’s focus on education has not only eased financial strain on families but has also motivated students to aim for academic excellence. His commitment to supporting these students underscores his dedication to building a brighter future for the community.
As the program continues to expand, its positive impact on students is increasingly evident. The outstanding results achieved by participants highlight the program’s success and serve as a model for other leaders to emulate.
Beneficiaries of the program have expressed their deep gratitude, stressing how critical the coaching classes were in improving their academic outcomes.

“Before attending the holiday coaching classes, I struggled with several subjects. The teachers at the centers were patient and helped me grasp difficult concepts. The mock exam helped me identify areas that needed improvement, and having my WAEC fees covered was a huge relief,” one beneficiary shared.
Another student reflected on how the initiative’s long-term impact would be felt as more students continue to excel and contribute positively to society. “Senator Alli has shown us what it means to be a leader who genuinely cares. I hope that one day I can give back to my community in the same way,” she said.
Through this holiday coaching program, Senator Alli is not only fostering academic excellence but also instilling hope and ambition in the hearts of young people, ensuring they are equipped to pursue their dreams and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
