Benedict Akika, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and a close associate of Governor Seyi Makinde, has regained his freedom after being held captive for six days.
Akika, who is the founder of the Omituntun Benedict Foundation, was abducted from his Ibadan residence by gunmen who stormed his Olorunda home and whisked him away to an undisclosed location.
The circumstances surrounding his release remain unclear, with no confirmation on whether a ransom was paid. Following his release, Akika was immediately taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment to ensure his well-being.
The incident has raised concerns about the growing security challenges in the state, as authorities continue investigating the details of the abduction.
