The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has rescheduled the commencement of registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to Monday, February 3, instead of the previously announced date of Friday, January 31. Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, explained in a statement on Friday in Abuja that the shift was necessitated by critical adjustments to the Board’s registration templates. One key factor influencing this decision, he noted, was the recent suspension of certain law programmes at selected universities, as communicated to JAMB by the Council for Legal Education. Additionally, the Board uncovered irregularities in the approval process for some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, where deceptive facilities were used to secure accreditation. “As a result, JAMB is taking time to scrutinize and disapprove such centres to maintain the integrity of the examination process,” Benjamin stated. While acknowledging the potential disruption for candidates and other stakeholders, JAMB apologized for the inconvenience, assuring that the additional time would allow for necessary corrections and a smoother registration process.
