Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Mrs. Bisola Kola-Daisi, the eldest child of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi. She died in the United Kingdom at the age of 42 after a brief illness.
The news of her death was confirmed early Thursday, March 27, 2025, sending shockwaves through political, business, and social circles.
Bisola, who was married to Kolapo Kola-Daisi, a respected politician and banking executive from Ibadan, was a mother of three. In an emotional tribute, her husband described her as a shining star, saying, “Bisola was not just my wife; she was my partner in everything. Her spirit will live on in our children.”
Beyond being a member of the influential Ajimobi family, Bisola Kola-Daisi was a force in Nigeria’s business and public sectors. She was the managing director of Grandex Nigeria Ltd., a major retail and wholesale chain founded in 1984. Her entrepreneurial acumen positioned her as a key player in the country’s luxury retail space.
In addition to her business ventures, she served as special adviser to the Minister of Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu, where she played a strategic role in national economic planning.
Her death marks a painful loss to her family, the business community, and the political landscape in Nigeria.
