Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has declared August 20 as a work-free day to mark Isese Day, an annual celebration of traditional religion and cultural heritage in the state. The governor made the announcement, emphasizing the importance of preserving and honoring the cultural traditions of the Yoruba people.
Isese Day, also known as the Traditional Worshipers Day, is observed to pay homage to the deities and ancestors of the Yoruba land. The declaration reflects the government’s commitment to inclusivity and respect for the diverse cultural practices within the state.

The work-free day will allow citizens to participate in various cultural activities and events organized to celebrate the day. Governor Makinde encouraged all residents to take part in the festivities and use the opportunity to reflect on the values and traditions that define the Yoruba heritage.
