The Executive Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Olaleye Akinola, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleosho, a prominent political figure and his benefactor, who died at the age of 86.
In a heartfelt statement issued on Sunday, Akinola paid tribute to Chief Koleosho, describing him as a monumental figure whose guidance and mentorship played a significant role in his political career. Akinola noted that Chief Koleosho was not just a leader but a father figure to many in the Oke-Ogun region and beyond, whose wisdom and dedication to public service were unparalleled.
“Chief Michael Koleosho was more than just a political leader; he was a beacon of hope and progress for Oke-Ogun and Oyo State as a whole. His vision, hard work, and dedication to the betterment of our communities have left an indelible mark on all of us who had the privilege of knowing him,” Akinola stated.
The Chairman reflected on the pivotal moments in his career where Chief Koleosho’s support and encouragement were instrumental. “I owe a great deal of my achievements in public service to the mentorship and backing of Chief Koleosho. He believed in me when few did, and his unwavering support has been a cornerstone of my journey in politics. His loss is deeply personal, and I feel a profound sense of gratitude for all he did for me and our community,” Akinola added.
Chief Koleosho, a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government under the late Governor Lam Adesina, was also a former National Chairman of the now-defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD). His contributions to the state and nation were immense, particularly in the areas of education and infrastructure. His efforts led to the establishment of the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, which was recently renamed in his honor by Governor Seyi Makinde, as a testament to his lasting legacy.
Akinola also highlighted the deep respect and admiration that Chief Koleosho commanded in Saki, where he was installed as the Babalaje of Saki. “Chief Koleosho was a pillar of strength for our community. His leadership, integrity, and compassion were qualities that we all admired and aspired to emulate. His passing is a great loss not only to his family but to all of us in Oke-Ogun and Oyo State,” he said.
The Chairman extended his condolences to Chief Koleosho’s family, urging them to find solace in the legacy of service and dedication he left behind. He called on the people of Saki West Local Government to honor Chief Koleosho’s memory by continuing to uphold the values he stood for—service, integrity, and commitment to community development.
As the community mourns the passing of this esteemed leader, Hon. Akinola assured that the Saki West Local Government will continue to build on the foundations laid by Chief Koleosho, striving to realize the vision of a prosperous and united Oke-Ogun that he worked so hard to achieve.
