Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, has made the difficult decision to resign from his duties due to pressing family medical concerns. His sudden departure, announced on Saturday, also includes stepping down from his additional roles as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.
Ngelale, in a memo addressed to Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, informed the Presidency of his intention to take an indefinite leave. While he expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve Nigeria, he emphasized the need to focus on his family’s health issues.
The resignation leaves several critical roles temporarily vacant as the Presidency has yet to name a successor. Ngelale, however, remains hopeful of returning to national service when his family’s situation improves.
Although unexpected, Ngelale’s decision underscores the balancing act between personal responsibilities and national service. As he steps away to support his family, the Presidency and the nation respect his request for privacy and wish him well during this trying time.
