The People of Grace (POG), a charitable association founded by Mrs. Hadizat Olajumoke Aderogba, celebrated its 5th anniversary on January 2, 2025, with a grand event held at the Abeje multipurpose Hall, Saki. The celebration brought together members, dignitaries, and community leaders to reflect on the association’s achievements and renew its commitment to supporting the less privileged in society.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Aderogba, the Chief Executive Officer of POG, expressed gratitude to members for their unwavering dedication over the past five years. She highlighted the association’s impactful contributions, which include supporting schoolchildren, providing hope to widows, combating depression, and fostering collective growth through financial and material contributions by members. “This association is not just a charitable body; it is a family united by the goal of spreading happiness and uplifting lives,” she stated.

Empowering the Vulnerable
One of the event’s major highlights was the distribution of financial support to widows. Fourteen widows received ₦20,000 each, with the recipients being encouraged to use the funds judiciously to improve their livelihoods. The gesture reinforced the association’s commitment to empowering vulnerable groups within the community.

Lecture and Goodwill Messages
The guest lecturer, Dr. Y.Y. Muslim, lauded the association for its laudable achievements and for positively impacting the community. He praised Mrs Aderogba for her tireless efforts in ensuring the association’s growth and stability, describing her leadership as inspiring.

In his goodwill message, High Chief Abdulrasheed Gazali Adegoke, the Bagii of Saki, commended the founder’s courage and vision, attributing her philanthropic endeavors to her natural instincts. He urged the group to continue empowering its members while extending support to the vulnerable in the community. “This association has proven its commitment to humanity, and I encourage you to sustain this noble cause,” he added.

Celebrating Members’ Contributions
The anniversary also recognized the contributions of members with awards in various categories, including teamwork and distinguished service. The awards served to appreciate the efforts of active members who have consistently supported the association’s initiatives.

The event was graced by dignitaries such as Dr. Y.Y. Muslim, Baale Sepeteri, Alhaja Balikis Adeleke of Alsafura Hospital, Matron Ojebode of ATISBO LG Primary Health Care, Chief Akin Adetola and Sheik Giyasudeen Agoro, among others. Guests were treated to an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie, with dancing, entertainment, and reflections on the group’s milestones over the years.

As the celebration drew to a close, Mrs. Aderogba expressed her gratitude to the organizing committee for ensuring the event’s success and to all members for their steadfast contributions. “This anniversary is a testament to our collective strength and dedication.
