Popular Nigerian musician, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, better known by his stage name “Portable,” has been taken into custody by the Kwara State Police Command following a petition that accuses him of criminal defamation and other related offences.
The arrest stems from a complaint lodged by Mr. Okunola Saheed, also known as “Osupa,” who alleged that the singer was involved in defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, and actions capable of causing a breach of peace.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, revealed in a statement obtained by Just Event Online TV that an arrest warrant was lawfully secured from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin after reviewing the gravity of the allegations and accompanying evidence.
Acting on the warrant, operatives of the Kwara State Police Command traced Portable to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he was apprehended around 7:25 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2025. He was immediately transferred to Ilorin for further investigation.
Upon arrival, Portable gave a formal statement in the presence of legal representatives from both sides. Authorities confirmed that he remains in custody and will face court proceedings shortly.
The Kwara State Police Command emphasized its adherence to legal protocols and appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information while investigations continue.
